I’m Leslie, the CEO,

and Founder of Age Wise.

As a veteran community visiting nurse, I’ve cared for people of all ages and stages of life and believe aging is a family matter. Those with supportive networks and financial resources fare so much better in what can often be a challenging process. But even with resources, where do you start?

I believe that within the current healthcare system, we’re failing our seniors in many ways. I created Age Wise and a unique system of support to bring much-needed direction, depth, and a more holistic approach to facilitate the care our seniors deserve.

By putting up our hands for help, we can decide to take control of both our health and happiness! Addressing all of the factors contributing to how families feel about where they currently are along the journey, new perspectives and approaches are explored. We believe this should be available to everyone.

The Feather Story

The Age Wise logo contains a feather for a reason…

While on a retreat doing some personal, inner work I had a profound experience. My entire life, I always thought that as long as everything looked okay from the outside, I could hold things together on the inside… despite my struggles.

The truth was, I needed to be willing to speak up when I needed help and support. Seniors often seem reluctant to speak up because of external pressures, financial fears, or the worry of being a bother to others.

As I meditated on a nature walk, I began to feel empowered to use my voice. We should all be free to courageously ask for what we need without the concern of the responses of others.

I decided to begin to advocate for myself and show others how to do the same. In that moment, I looked down at my feet to find the most beautiful blue feathers. I picked them all up and placed them around my home, purse, and car as a reminder to speak up and to advocate for people who won’t or don’t do so for themselves.

The feathers signified being brave enough to use our voices to say what needs to be said, and ask for what we truly desire.
